DHAKA - The Government of Malaysia contributes USD 70,777.00 to the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in Bangladesh. Her Excellency Madam Norlin Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh handed over the cheque to Dr. Cecep Effendi, Director General of CIRDAP at the High Commission of Malaysia on 3 April 2013.
The yearly contribution is presented to reflect the commitment and support of the Government of Malaysia to further enhance integrated rural development and poverty alleviation initiatives in Asia and the Pacific region.
CIRDAP, an inter-governmental organization based in Dhaka, Bangladesh was established on 6 July 1979 at the initiative of the countries of the Asia Pacific region and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Being a Centre of 14 Member-countries, CIRDAP is given the mandate to facilitate the provision of services that will influence policy formulation and programme action towards rural development and poverty alleviation through a network of CIRDAP across the region.
