DHAKA- The grand finale of a national culinary competition, “Monitor-Malaysian Palm Oil Chef of the Year 2012” was held on Saturday, 2 March 2013 at The Westin Hotel in Dhaka.
Her Excellency Madam Norlin Binti Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh was invited as the Chief Guest at ceremony and later awarded the prizes to the winners of Monitor-Malaysian Palm Oil Chef of the Year 2012. Mr. Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor of The Bangladesh Monitor; Mr. Akhtar Uzzaman Khan Kabir, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board; Mr. AKM Fakhrul Alam, Regional Manager of Malaysian Palm Oil Council; Mr. SK Raihan Ahmed, CEO of Seven Circle Edible Oil; Mr. Azeem Shah, General Manager of The Westin Dhaka, and Mr. Syed Abdul Muktadir, Senior Adviser to United Airways, were also present in the occasion.
Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), the worldwide marketing and promotion organisation of Malaysian Palm Oil, was the lead sponsor of the competition for the fifth time. The programme was organised to promote and also to increase consumer awareness of the nutritional values of palm oil, and subsequently aimed to increase the consumption of Malaysian palm oil in Bangladeshi households.
