NOTICE
ENTRY RESTRICTION FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS FROM BANGLADESH DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The Government of Malaysia has imposed entry restriction for foreign nationals from certain countries, including Bangladesh, to curb further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The entry restriction will take effect from 8 May 2021 and will be implemented as follows:
1. Foreign nationals who embark on their journey from Bangladesh either by direct flight to Malaysia or transiting in Malaysia, will not be allowed to enter Malaysia;
2. Ship with a 14-day history of travelling from certain countries, including Bangladesh, are not allowed to undergo sign on and sign off procedures in Malaysia. However, Malaysian crews will be allowed entry and required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at gazetted quarantine stations;
3. Implementation of entry restriction for Bangladesh citizens of the following categories:
I. All category of Long Term Visit Pass holders (including student pass);
II. Business travellers; and
III. Social Visit Pass (the ban has been imposed earlier since 7 September 2020).
4. The following may be allowed to enter Malaysia, provided that an entry approval are obtained earlier through MyTravelPass, and must undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at gazetted quarantine stations:
I. Diplomatic and official passport holders; and
II. Permanent Residents and holders of Long Term Visit Pass in the category of spouse to citizens.
5. Malaysian citizens from Bangladesh are allowed to enter Malaysia, but must undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at gazetted quarantine stations;
6. Malaysian citizens are barred from traveling to certain countries, including Bangladesh; and
7. Entry and exit approval that have been obtained earlier, either through MyTravelPass, MyEntry or any other mechanisms are VOID and no longer valid.
Following the implementation of the above entry restriction, visa services by the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka will be temporarily suspended until further notice. For further enquiries, please email to dhaka@imi.gov.my.
