DHAKA – Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri S. Samy Vellu, Special Envoy to India and South Asia on Infrastructure and a delegation of 25 undertook a working visit to Bangladesh from 27 to 30 May 2012. The main purpose of the visit was for Dato’ Seri S. Samy Vellu to hand over the Concept Privatisation Proposal for Padma Multipurpose Bridge to H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The event took place on 28 May 2012 at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence.
In addition to that, Dato’ Seri S. Samy Vellu also took the opportunity to call on H.E. Obaidul Quader, Minister of Communications of Bangladesh to discuss on the possibility of Malaysian company to sell 200 coaches to the Ministry of Railway, Bangladesh to replace the existing old and dilapidated condition of coaches of the Bangladesh railway. H.E. Obaidul Quader is temporarily taking care of the Ministry of Railway. Dato’ Seri S. Samy Vellu also met with H.E. Faruk Khan, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh to discuss on the possibility of Malaysian companies to participate in the construction of the new international airport in Bangladesh in the future.
