Shaikh Khalid to attend a key joint GCC-UK meeting in London.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa will take part in the session of the joint GCC-UK meeting intended to be held in London and is attended by the British Foreign Secretary Mr. William Hague. The GCC-British work-plan for 2012-215 will top the agenda, which focuses on political, economic and security cooperation. The delegations will discuss means of promoting joint political and strategic relations, in addition to the stability of the Gulf region. They will also explore ways of boosting investments, bolstering economic and trade cooperation and encouraging the private sectors to embark on joint ventures.
Bahraini youth groups warn of giving priority to the sectarian identity over the national one.
At the “Chatham House”, which is a London-based non-profit and non-governmental organization that works on promoting understanding of major international issues and current affairs, a youth conference was held discussing the Bahrain current crisis. The Conference included a group of Bahraini Youth of different political and social trends and attachments who spoke at several sessions of a dialogue under the title “Bahraini Youths Perspectives over the future.” The Bahraini youths have all stressed on the importance of giving priority to the one Bahraini national identity and avoid falling in the pitfalls of a sectarian abyss. They added that institutional educational, economic and social reforms and the promotion of peace, security and human rights cultures can resolve all the issues of the current crises.
BDF Commander-in-Chief and the independents' bloc in a meeting.
Bahrain Defence Force, Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met in his office yesterday with chairman and members of the independents' Bloc in the House of Representatives led by the chairman of the Independents' Bloc Othman Sharif Al-Rayyes, accompanied with MPs Abdullah Al-Dossary, Esa Al-Qadi Esa Al-Kooheji , Mahmoud Al-Mahoud, and Ahmed Al-Mulla. During the meeting, Shaikh Khalifa praised the efforts and role of members of the Independents' Bloc in the House of Representatives and their outstanding substantial work in serving the best interest of the homeland and citizens. Mutual cooperation and coordination between the BDF and the House of Representatives and other issues were discussed between the two sides also.

HRH the Premier received at his court yesterday a delegation from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and leading businessmen from Bahrain, led by BCCI Chairman Dr. Essam bin Abdulla Fakhro. During the meeting, HRH Prime Minister stressed the importance of keeping BCCI away from any kind of political bickering and preserve its role as “a house for all traders”, reiterating the government's constant keenness to launch initiatives that boost the trade momentum and support the business and trade community. HRH called for the need to double efforts and join hands in order to enable BCCI to continue playing its vital role in serving Bahraini business, trade, investment and stimulate our national economy.
ASEAN World Economic Forum's president sends a cable of gratitude to HRH the Premier.
The Prime Minister, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received yesterday a cable of gratitude from the World Economic Forum's president Prof. Klaus Schwab in which he confirmed that HRH Prince Khalifa’s participation at the 21st World Economic Forum for ASEAN was of much value and had great impact. The Forum is recently held in Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Schwab described HRH the Prime Minister's participation as “extremely significant and valuable” in view of the visions and ideas suggested by HRH the Prime Minister which shall boost mutual trade relations between the GCC countries and ASEAN countries and boost cooperation relations and develop economic potentials between these countries.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism:
EWA launches saving campaign: Save so as to Sustain.
The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has yesterday distributed to more than 100 technical offices a series of leaflets and instructional drawings on optimum methods and international practices of construction and architectural design. This comes as part of EWA's initiative to boost the culture of saving electricity and water, and to follow optimum methods to help save water resources and electric power according to highest international standards for this purpose
