HM the King receives a Letter from King Abdulla of Saudia.
HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received yesterday, at Al-Rawdha Palace, HRH Prince Megrin bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Advisor and Special Envoy of the Saudi Monarch, who delivered to HM a letter from King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud dealing with the historic outstanding relations between Bahrain and Saudia Arabia, and discussing the latest regional and international developments. HM the King welcomed the Saudi Prince and extended greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, wishing the Saudi people further progress and prosperity under his wise leadership. Later, HM King Hamad hosted an Iftar banquet in honour of HRH Prince Mogren bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
III. Economic, Trade, Business, Tourism:
Bahrain to host Arabian Petchem Forum by the end of September.
Petchem Arabia 2012, which is a major petrochemical conference, is set to be held in September in Kingdom of Bahrain. The event will feature presentations, case studies, panel discussions and roundtables. Held as part of the Middle East Chemical Week, it is expected that ministerial and executive-level speakers from national and international oil companies will be part of this event. The seventh edition of the conference will be held under the joint patronage of Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Iraqi Industry and Minerals Deputy Minister Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Al Ani. The event, being organised by the World Refining Association, will be held from September 30 to October 2.
BMI Bank reports $800,000 profit for 1H.
Chief Executive Officer of BMI Bank, Mr. Jamal Al-Hazeem, , said while commenting on the bank’s first half results, which is a net profit of $0.8 million (BD0.3 million), that he is very pleased with these financial results; and affirmed that fourth straight net quarterly profit demonstrating both the effectiveness of the BMI’s refreshed strategy and the sound progress achieved against it. The Bank continues to maintain an excellent Capital adequacy ratio of over 18%.
Alba’s casthouse wins ISO quality certification.
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) received a re-certification of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) Standard for its casthouse department. The assessment was conducted by Bahrain-based Bureau Veritas BV on June 5 and 6. The assessment was made for casthouse as well as for other departments that directly interface with casthouse to achieve departmental goals. These departments include Procurement & Warehousing, Casthouse Maintenance & Instrumentation, Metallurgy, Customer Technical Assistance and Marketing. The certification will remain valid until June 2015. At the expiry of the current certificate, a full scale re-certification audit will be conducted to renew the certificate for a cycle of another three years.

2012 London Olympic Games on Bahrain Sport Channels.
The Information Affairs Authority President, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, received yesterday broadcasting officials at the IAA and outlined with them the plan drawn up by the Bahrain Sport Channel to broadcast London Olympic Games 2012. Shaikh Fawaz announced that four sport channels will be opened to broadcast the London Games2012.
IAA Chief Launches Book.
Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Personal Representative of HM, has yesterday attended the launching of the book “Bahrain in the Press of the Past”, in the presence of the Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa and the author of the book Mr. Sager bin Abdulla Al-Maawda. The IAA Chief also opened an exhibition held on the sidelines of the book launch at Bahrain Moda Mall, in the presence of officials and journalists. The book documents press articles written on Bahrain in the period from 1899 and 1977. This comes part of the festivities and events marking Bahrain as Capital of Arab Press for the year 2012.
V. Other News:
SAR 136 million in fundraising in favor of Syria's needy.
Total cash donations collected during the Saudi National Campaign in Succor to the grieved Syrian people, ordered by King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on its second day have collected more than SAR 136 million in addition to material donations such as foodstuffs, medical and clothing items, tents, blankets, bedsheets, and jewelry. Multitudes of Saudi and GCC’s citizens and also residents responded massively to the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and rushed to the locations of fundraising since the start of the campaign in favor of brothers in Syria from all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The campaign lasts for five days starting from yesterday evening until next Friday.
