PRESS RELEASE
His Excellency Ambassador Ahmad Shahizan Abd Samad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, presented his letter of credentials to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain, at the Sakhir Palace on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
During his presentation, His Majesty King Hamad extended his warm greetings to Seri Paduka Baginda Yang diPertuan Agong, followed by exchanges of welcoming speeches and reiterating the strong and warm bilateral relations between Malaysia and Bahrain. Ambassador Shahizan further reprised the commitments to deepen and broaden the relations and cooperation of these two countries through exchanges of visit, both from the royalties and officials, including the opening up of the embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Malaysia.
Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ambassador Shahizan was the Director General of the ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. He has also served as the Director General of the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter Terrorism (SEARCCT) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2010) as well as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (2007-2009).
Ambassador Shahizan succeeds His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Syed Sultan Idris as the new Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain. He is the third Ambassador of Malaysia since its establishment in September 2003.
