“Manama, July 1 (BNA) — The Deputy of His Majesty the King and Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, highlighted the promising opportunities for cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia because of its potential in the fields of economy and modern technology.
Shaikh Salman indicated during his meeting with the Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah bin Haji Aman that the first ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the ASEAN group, hosted by the Kingdom during the past two days, had laid the foundations for further cooperation and communication between the countries of the region at various levels. Premier discussed outstanding ties linking both countries at various fields, indicating the necessity to activate the mechanism of bilateral cooperation which is embodied by the joint agreements and the Bahrain-Malaysia Joint Committee for mutual interest.
Premier asserted the Kingdom keenness to boost coordination with Malaysia in trade, economic and industrial fields, noting the importance to exchange visits between officials in order to enhance the Bahraini-Malaysian relations.
Moreover, premier affirmed the necessity to arrange a meeting between the GCC states and ASEAN, indicating the importance of Bahrain being a hub for hosting such important event.
On his part, aman hailed the advanced level of relations reached between both countries and the crucial role played by the premier in boosting them."

Shaikh Khalid welcomed the guest asserting the strength of bilateral cooperation ties in all domains. On his part, the Malaysian Minister lauded Bahrain's initiative to host the fist GCC-ASEAN meeting as indicating the Kingdom's desire to bolster cooperation between both sides, thanking Bahrain for the facilities it had provided for the gathering to succeed. The two ministers agreed to hold the Bahraini-Malaysian Committee meetings in Kuala Lumpur before the end of the current month. Shaikh Khalid was also invited to visit Malaysia and he accepted the invitation, promising to carry it out at the most convenient occasion in the near future. Current regional and global developments were also reviewed during the meeting."
