Birth/Marriage Certificate

  • Registration of Birth

Malaysians born abroad can be registered at any Malaysian Mission on the conditions :

 

  1. Father of the child is a Malaysian Citizen;

  2. Registration is made within one (1) year from the date of birth;

  3. Documents required for registration are as follows (original and copy):

Registrant’s Documents (Originals And Copies)

 

a. Birth Certificate or latest extract of Birth Certificate (translated into Malay/English by the court/public translator and endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of respective country);

b. Entry permit or passport or other travel document;

c. Three (3) recent passport-sized photographs with a blue background; and

d. Registration Fee.

 

Parents’ Documents (Originals And Copies)

 

a. Birth Certificate or latest extract of Birth Certificate;

b. Identity card (if any);

c. Passport or other travel document;

d. Citizenship Certificate; and

e. Marriage Document/Certificate.

 

Note: All copies of supporting documents should be made on A4 paper.

 

Form H (letter for birth abroad) will be issued by the Mission. A copy will be sent to the National Registration Department of Malaysia to be recorded.
 
Note: For registration made beyond the period of one (1) year after the birth, process i - ii still applies. The Mission will forward the application to the National Registration Department of Malaysia for approval. Feedback of the application (approved or otherwise) will be notified to the applicant accordingly,

 

  • Registration of Marriage

Marriage can be registered at the Malaysian Mission if at least one of the couple is a Malaysian citizen. 

 

Registration of marriage need to be made within the period of six (6) months after the marriage ceremony. Addresses of Malaysian Missions is available in the main page of this website. 
 
Supporting documents required for registration are as follows:

  1. Passport of the couple (original document and photostat copies);

  2. Malaysian/local Identification Card; and

  3. Local Marriage Certificate and Official Translation.
