AMBASSADOR OF MALAYSIA ATTENDS A SOLIDARITY CONFERENCE ON THE RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF DR. IRFAN LJUBLJANKIC CANTONAL HOSPITAL

H.E. Anuar Kasman, Malaysian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), attended a Solidarity Conference on the Reconstruction and Development of Dr. Irfan Ljubljankic Cantonal Hospital organized by H.E. Yuri Afanasiev, Resident Coordinator of United Nations to BiH.  The event was also attended by Mr. Nermin Niksic, Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH and Dr. Zlatko Lagumdzija, Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH.  It was held on 25 March 2014 at the UN Building in Sarajevo.

 

The objective of the event was to highlight the various efforts undertaken to re-construct the Dr. Ifran Ljubljankic Cantonal Hospital which was partially destroyed by fire on 26 July 2013.  The hospital is situated in Bihac, the main town in Una-Sana Canton.  It is located 285 km from Sarajevo.

 

It is the main medical institution in the locality and provides services to about 300,000 people in the eight municipalities of the Una-Sana Canton.

 

Among the countries that have contributed funding assistance for the re-construction of the hospital included the Czech Republic.

 

The Cantonal government of Una-Sana has appealed for further assistance from the international community, NGOs and the local community for the re-construction efforts.
