The Embassy of Malaysia and Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Sarajevo jointly organized a ceremony to mark the 51st Anniversary of ASEAN on 8 August 2018. The ceremony was held from 10.00 a.m. at the official residence of Her Excellency Mrs. Amelia Yani Achmad, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Vogosca. It was attended by Embassy officials from Malaysia and Indonesia in Sarajevo, family members, representative of Malaysian community and locally recruited staff of both Embassies.
To kick start the event, ASEAN anthem was played followed by short remarks by His Excellency Ambassador Zakri Jaafar and Her Excellency Ambassador Amelia Yani Achmad respectively. The event continued with aerobic exercise ‘poco-poco’ and interview session by the local media, Hayat T.V. with both Ambassadors. The event was also covered by Federal News Agency (FENA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ceremony which is being held jointly for their first time (proposed by Ambassador Zakri), mark a new stage in the promotion of ASEAN in Bosnia and Herzegovina given that there are only two ASEAN member states in Sarajevo.
The ceremony ended with a delectable pot-luck lunch prepared by members of the Embassy of Malaysia and Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.
