Nine final-year students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) have successfully concluded a five-month internship programme at the Municipality of Srebrenik in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To honour the students as well as local firms and organisations that have facilitated this internship programme, Mr. Mehmet Bajraktarevic, the Mayor of Srebrenik hosted a luncheon held at Hotel Park in Srebrenik on 22 November 2011.
Also present were Mr. Mohd Hussain Bakar, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia in Sarajevo and Mr. Onn Mohamed, Second Secretary (Administration). The students from UiTM’s Faculty of Business Management in Shah Alam began their internship programme on 2 July 2011. All the students were attached to local firms based in Srebrenik.
Mayor Mehmed Bajraktarevic was pleased to note that the students had not only successfully completed the programme but also forged long-lasting friendship with the people of Srebrenik. Mr. Muhammad Naqiuddin Abd. Malek, speaking on behalf of his fellow UiTM students, expressed his appreciation to the Mayor, local firms as well as the people of Municipality for their kind assistance and warm welcome extended during their stay there. Mr. Mohd Hussain Bakar thanked the Mayor and the people of Srebrenik for hosting the students and said their stint was a positive reflection of the close and excellent bilateral ties between Malaysia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prior to the luncheon, the Charge d’Affaires a.i. took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Mayor. Srebrenik is located 95 km from Sarajevo.
