CONTRIBUTION FROM ZAKAT COLLECTION CENTRE, MALAYSIA TO GAZI HUSREV-BEGOVA MADRASSA IN SARAJEVO

The Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council of Malaysia has extended a financial contribution to the Gazi Husrev-Begova Madrassa in Sarajevo.  The EUR5,000 (RM 21,700) contribution was to help in the running of the activities of the Madrassa.

 

The Embassy of Malaysia in Sarajevo on behalf of the Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council of Malaysia, extended the contribution through the Grand Mufti Office, Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The Grand Mufti Office oversees the activities Madrassas in the country.

 

To thank the Malaysian side for the contribution, Mr. Zijad Ljevakovic, Director of the Gazi Husrev-Begova Madrassa extended a letter of appreciation to the Zakat Collection Centre.  He handed over the letter of appreciation to Mr. Mohd Hussain Bakar, the Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia who received it on behalf of the Zakat Collection Centre.  The function was held at the Director’s office on 20 January 2012.

 

The Madrassa was established in 1537.  It has a student enrolment of 475 from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and a teaching staff of 45.
