Haji Mohd Nordin Ibrahim, Deputy Director-General, Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM) paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Hussein Kavazovic, the new Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on 15 November 2012. Also present were Mr. Mohd Hussain Bakar, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia in Sarajevo and Mr. Onn Mohamed, Second Secretary (Administration).
Haji Mohd Nordin was in Sarajevo to represent Malaysia on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Grand Mufti. The inauguration ceremony was held earlier on the same day at the historic Gazi Husrev Begova mosque. Representatives from Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other countries also attended the ceremony.
Sheikh Hussein, who was formerly the Mufti of Tuzla, succeeded Dr. Mustafa Ceric who had held the post of Grand Mufti since 1993.
