Camil Sijaric ?Malaysian School? hosted its Annual Iftar on 17 September 2008. It was attended by the teachers of the school and guests. Guests include Members of the School Board and also the Ambassador of Malaysia and his wife.
After the traditional opening of fast with dates and lemonade, the main menu started with a plate of topa with bread. Topa is normally only served during the month of Ramadhan. It has its name from the traditional cannon blast marking the time for the breaking of fast. It was followed by tarhana soup, and then the main course comprising of bamija, stuffed paprika, tomato, chicken, potato, salad and dessert.
Magrib prayers was conducted at the Bosnian styled room. It was led by the main imam of the Dobrinja mosque, Mr. Munir ef. Jasarevic, who is also a member of the School Board.
Traditional popular sevdalinka songs were sung by the teachers and led by the school?s director Mr Farouk Jabucar and supported by Ms. Bakusic Alma, playing the accordion.
Camil Sijaric School was reconstructed after the Bosnian War with funds collected from the teachers and students from Malaysia. The school was named after the great Bosnian poet Camil Sijaric (1913 ? 1989). The school has 36 teachers and 675 students. The school was officially reopened by YB Dato? Sri Najib Tun Razak, the then Minister of Education of Malaysia on 29 October 1997.
Two of the teachers, Ms Elma Voloder and Mr. Almin Demir will be leaving for Malaysia on 17 October 2008 to attend courses under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme. Ms Voloder will be participating in the Integrating ICT in Language Teaching course and Mr Demir will be participating in the Testing and Evaluation in Second Language Teaching course. The courses are for a period of 3 weeks, i.e. from 20 October to 14 November 2008.
