Selamat datang!

Every 31st August, Malaysia will celebrate its National Day. This year it will be the 63rd anniversary and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration continuous. However, in line with current practices, we will not be holding a physical celebration. Instead, we are pleased to invite you to join us in a virtual concert of ‘Malaysia’s Virtual National Day 2020 Reception’; a special collaboration between Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert will be screened for the first time (premier) officially by The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs through his Facebook Watch Party https://www.facebook.com/HishammuddinH2O/ at 3:00 pm, 31 August 2020 (Malaysian time) / 9:00 am (Bosnian time). Alternatively, you may watch the video through official YouTube of MOFA Malaysia https://www.youtube.com/user/kemluar once it’s uploaded.

An introduction about The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO); founded in 1997, is the resident orchestra of the Petronas Philharmonic Hall (Malay: Dewan Filharmonik Petronas) in Kuala LumpurMalaysia. Its members are made up of musicians from over 20 countries. Although the orchestra's mission is dedicated mainly to the performance of classical music, its versatile repertoire includes music from all genres, including popjazzfolk music and rock especially local musics. The concert will give rendition of famous local songs such as Cindai, Puteri Santubong and Bahtera Merdeka, among others.

The patron of the MPO is Tun Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad, who was the prime minister when the orchestra was founded in 1997. The orchestra is funded primarily through Petronas, a Malaysian oil and gas company.

We look forward to having you joining us at the concert.
