The Embassy of Malaysia had, on 5 April 2009 participated in the 2nd ?Walk-For-Life 2009 (WFL2009)? walkathon in Sarajevo under the banner ?Team Malaysia?. It was held in Skenderija, in the centre of Sarajevo. Team Malaysia, led by H.E. Mr. Zulkifli Adnan, Ambassador of Malaysia was proclaimed the ?Largest Contingent? for the event this year. Team Malaysia comprises staff of the Embassy, teachers from Sekolah Malaysia (Camil Sijaric School), Malaysians residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH), ?friends of Malaysia? as well as their family members, making it a total of 60 participants.
The WFL2009 is a partnership project between AVON, the Ministry of Health of Federation BH, Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo and the City of Sarajevo. It was held in aid of Mammogram and Breast Screening Awareness-Raising programme. Besides Sarajevo, the WFL2009 would also be held in Banja Luka, (some 300 km from Sarajevo) and Mostar (some 125 km from Sarajevo) on 7 June and 13 September 2009 respectively.
Participation fee for the WFL2009 is ?5 (KM10) and every participant would receive a free Walk-For-Life T-shirt. Some 3,000 participants from the local and international community across BH turned up for this event. The programme included welcoming remarks by Mrs. Cheryl Romano, the Project Coordinator, performances by students (druga gymnasium), singing of the WFL2009?s official song entitled ?Sigurni? (security) by the popular local duo ?Erota?, and warming up exercise prior to the walk. A 16-member Bosnian army band led the walk starting from the Skenderija Sports Hall towards the Sarajevo Old Town of Bascarsija, passing through the city of Sarajevo along Miljacka river, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Presidency building, and back to Skenderija. The walk covered some 3 km and lasted for 1 ½ hours. It was sunny on 5 April in Sarajevo making the walk pleasant and enjoyable for everyone.
Every year some 1,600 women in BH are diagnosed with breast cancer. The purchase of the equipment would reduce the waiting time for patients, for screening and detection from 3 months to just 1 week.

Ambasada Malezije 5 aprila je u?estvovala u drugoj ??etnji Za ?ivot 2009? u Sarajevu pod nazivom ?tim Malezija?. Ovaj doga?aj se odvijao na Skenderiji u centru Sarajeva. Tim Malezija koju je predvodio Nj.E. g. Zulkifli Adnan, ambasador Malezije progla?en je ?najbrojnijim timom? ove godine. Tim su ?inili predstavnici ambasade, nastavnici iz malezijske ?kole (?amil Sijari? ?kola), Malezijaca koji borave u Bosni i Hercegovini i ?prijatelji Malezije? kao i ?lanovi njihovih porodica odnosno 60 u?esnika ukupno.
?etnja za ?ivot 2009 je partnerski projekt AVON-a, Ministarstva zdrastva FB&H, Ministarstvo zdrastva kantona Sarajevo i grada Sarajeva. Ovaj doga?aj se organizovao s ciljem prikupljanja sredstava za kupovinu mamografa i program osvje?tenosti ranog otkrivanja raka dojki. Pored Sarajeva ?etnja za ?ivot 2009 ?e se odr?ati i u Banja Luci (nekih 300 km od Sarajeva) i Mostar (oko 125 km od Sarajeva) 7 juna i 13 septembra,2009 godine.
Tro?kovi u?estvovanja u ?etnji za ?ivot 2009 je ko?talo 5 eura ili 10 KM a svaki u?esnik za taj novac je dobio i majicu kratkih rukava. Oko 3000 u?esnika kako stranih tako i doma?ih je prisustvovalo ovom doga?aju. Program je sadr?avao rije?i dobrodo?lice od strane g?e. Cheryl Romano, koordinatora projekta, izvedbe od strane u?enika druge gimnazije i popularnog doma?eg dua ?Erato?, kao i vje?bi zagrijavanja kao priprema za ?etnju. Vojni bend koji ima?esnaest ?lanova predvodion je ?etnju ofd Skenderije prema starom dijelu grada odnosno Ba??ar?iji, prolaze?i du? rijeke Miljacke, Ministarstva vanjskih poslova i zgrade predsjedni?tva i nazad do sportskog centra Skenderije. ?etnja je obuhvatala oko neka 3 km i trajala je 1 sat i 30 minuta. To je bio sun?ani 5 april, ?to je svakoako ?etnju u?inilo prijatnom.
Svake godine kod oko 1600 ?ena iz B&H je dijagnosticiran rak dojke. Kupovina opreme ?e skratiti vrijeme ?ekanja pacijenata kako snimanja tako i otkrivanja od mjesec dana na samo sedmicu.
Ambasada Malezije ?eljela bi ovim putem da zahvali svim u?esnicima koji su se registrovali pod nazivom ?tim Malezija? i ?to su time doprinjeli uspjehu ovog doga?aja.

Three thousand citizens from Sarajevo in a fight against breast cancer
More than three thousands citizens took advantage of a sunny Sunday morning and joined the second ?Walk For Life? in Sarajevo. The walk started from Skenderija. It is aimed at collecting funds for the purchase of medical equipment for biopsy-mammotome for the Ontological Institute of the Clinical Centre of University of Sarajevo.
The participants walked around three kilometers to Bascarsija and back to Skenderija with a message ?Early detection could save lives?. Participants contributed toward fighting breast cancer by purchasing t-shirts costing 10 KM (Euro 5), and special Avon products. Every year some 1.600 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in B&H.
?This is not a campaign which ends today. From our earlier experiences we will need around one year to collect 115,000 KM (Euro 58,800) for the purchase of this equipment?, said the project Director, Mrs. Cheryl Romano.
Mrs. Romano added that purchasing of this equipment would reduce the waiting time for patients from three months to just 7 days.
