Ambassador Zakri Jaafar accompanied by Ms Wan Shafawati Wan Mustapha, Second Secretary of the Embassy undertook a visit to the Agency for Halal Quality Certification in Tuzla on 26 February 2018. Ambassador was received by Mr Amir Sakic, Director of the Agency and was briefed on its activities ever since it was established in 2006. The Agency received JAKIM’s certificate recognizing it as the Halal Certification body. During the meeting, both parties discussed on cooperation in the halal industry locally and internationally.
Apart from the visit to the Agency, Ambassador Zakri took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on Imam Vahid Fazlovic, Mufti of Tuzla. At the meeting, Imam Fazlovic praised Malaysia for being able to keep the Islamic way of life and living in harmony within the diverse beliefs among its people.
On the same day, Ambassador Zakri also undertook a visit to Menprom, a successful meat processing factory in Tuzla with its distribution center in Sarajevo and Bihac. Meat products from Menprom are halal, certified by the Agency of Halal Quality Certification in 2008 and is the first factory that secured the ISO 2000 standard in BiH.
