H.E. Dato’ Sudha Devi visited the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) on 11 February 2011. She held called on Mr. Américo Tunes, President of IBAMA. Discussions with the President of IBAMA included an exchange of views on policies and programmes on protection of the environment as well as environmental management in an integrated manner.
Established in 1989, IBAMA’s institutional objectives include environmental permits and quality control, authorization of use of natural resources and the supervision, monitoring and environmental control.
H.E. Dato’ Sudha Devi also received a briefing from the Centre for Remote Sensing of IBAMA on the utilization of satellite remote sensing data to improve the management of Brazilian forests, especially the Amazon rainforest. The Centre is responsible for environmental monitoring, which is the basis of the work of IBAMA in combating illegal logging.

S.E. Dato’ Sudha Devi visitou o Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dosRecursos Naturais Renováveis ??(IBAMA), em 11 de fevereiro de 2011. Ela teve um encontro com o Sr. Américo Tunes, Presidente do IBAMA. As discussões com o presidente do Ibama incluíram troca de opiniões sobre políticas e programas de proteção do meio ambiente, bem como a gestão ambiental de forma integrada.
Fundada em 1989, os objetivos institucionais do IBAMA incluem licenças ambientais e controle de qualidade, autorização de uso de recursos naturais e fiscalização, monitoramento e controle ambiental.
S.E. Dato’ Sudha Devi também recebeu um briefing do Centro de Sensoriamento Remoto do IBAMA sobre a utilização dos dados de sensoriamento remoto por satélite para melhorar a gestão das florestas brasileiras, especialmente da Floresta Amazônica. O Centro é responsável pelo monitoramento ambiental, que é a base do trabalho do Ibama no combate ao desmatamento ilegal.
