The High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan hosted the Reception in conjunction with the 65th National Day and Malaysia Day on 20 September 2022 at the Rizqun International Hotel. The event was attended by around 250 guests, including dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, senior Bruneian government officials, academia, prominent local businessmen, as well as representatives from the Malaysian community. The event was graced by Honourable Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, representing the Government of Brunei Darussalam and his spouse.
The reception began with the singing of the national anthems of Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam followed by remarks from H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, in which he lauded the long-standing special and close bilateral relations between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. He also highlighted various cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, including in the areas of trade, defence, health, education, and sports. The event proceeded with cake cutting ceremony before the presentation of momentoes to the Guest of Honour and spouse.
To showcase Malaysia's cultural diversity, the guests were entertained with traditional dances and live band performance throughout the event while indulging in Malaysia's signature food.
