On 27 April 2025, High Commissioner of Malaysia HE Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, in his capacity as the Patron of Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM), officiated the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) held at Radisson Hotel, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The key highlight of the AGM was the election of the new Executive Committee for the 2024 – 2026 term. The AGM saw the re-election of its current President Mr Azlan Ahmad for another term. The new Executive Committee members for PWM are Deputy President Mr Ling Bing Leh; Honorary Secretary Ms Joyce Juliana Chow; Assistant Secretary Ms Sarah Akil; Honorary Treasurer Ms Ellin Chong; Assistant Treasurer Ms Hii King Yen; VP for General Affairs Mr Chris Ng; VP for Membership Ms Jenny Hii; VP for Education Ms Lenny Juvena Azmi; VP for Social Affairs Mr Sugumaran Nair; VP for Women Affairs Ms Paula Munoz; VP for Publicity & Public Relations Ms Vivian Peter; and VP for Sports & Recreation Ms Cecilia Maksimon.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini in his officiating remarks highlighted that PWM plays a pivotal role in fostering unity among the diverse Malaysian community in the sultanate, and expressed hope for the association to continue living up to its role.
The High Commissioner of Malaysia also urged the leadership team of PWM to continue advocating activities that benefit both the Malaysian community and the broader society in Brunei Darussalam, with a view to enhance people-to-people relations between both countries.
