On 5 August 2023, the High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan (HCM) in collaboration with the Embassies and High Commissions of ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and Japan organised the ASEAN – Japan food fair in conjunction with the 50th Year Anniversary of ASEAN – Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
The event was attended by diplomatic corps in Bandar Seri Begawan, Bruneian Government officials, as well as local medias. The attendees were treated to an array of local delicacies from ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and Japan. Majority were in awed and complimented the food offerings of Penang Laksa, Kole Kacang and Teh Tarik served by the HCM.
The event is part of the continuous efforts undertaken by the HCM in promoting Malaysian gastronomy with a view to further enhance its profile at the international stage.
