On 23 June 2025, the High Commissioner of Malaysia HE Datuk Mohd Aini Atan received a courtesy call from the Chief Executive Officer of RHB Brunei, Mr Mohd Shamsul Irwan bin Ab Wahab at the former’s office.
During the call, the CEO of RHB Brunei apprised HE Datuk Mohd Aini regarding the overview of RHB Brunei’s operations in the sultanate as well as its current banking initiatives such as Islamic banking and finance; and digital payment gateway.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini had a wide-ranging exchange of views with the CEO of RHB Brunei on how best to consolidate further cooperation in the financial services sector between the two countries, particularly in emerging areas such as digital economy; and fintech.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini also underscored the importance of close and coordinated cooperation between the banking industries of both countries in light of the rising geoeconomic tensions, in order to mitigate the risks of global economic fragmentation and instability, holistically.
