COURTESY CALL ON MINISTER AT THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE AND MINISTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMY II

The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Negara Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency (H.E) Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah on 14 December 2021 made a courtesy call on The Honourable Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at The Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Brunei Darussalam at the latter’s office.

 

Both discussed among others the challenges faced in the economic sphere in both countries particularly during and post COVID-19 pandemic.  H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza stated that the immediate priority of Malaysia is on the re-opening of the Malaysia-Brunei borders to revive trade cooperation and people to people relations between the two countries. His Excellency also underlined the readiness of the Malaysian private sector to support and participate in the five priority areas of Brunei's economic diversification namely on downstream oil and gas, services, tourism, ICT and food sectors.

 

Malaysian and Brunei Darussalam have been working hand in hand since the first COVID-19 wave to ensure no disruption of essential services across the borders. Both sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthen Malaysia-Brunei bilateral relations, especially in economic cooperation.
