His Excellency Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah on 21 December 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Dato Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, Brunei Darussalam at the latter’s office.
Aside from exchanging views on current post-pandemic issues, both parties discussed other areas of mutual interest including cooperation in halal certification, strengthening of ‘maqasid shariah’ policy framework, Islamic banking and finance and Islamic education. His Excellency Dato’ Raja Reza also underlined that similarities of Islamic values in both countries provide impetus for greater cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei.
Both sides reaffirmed the strong bonds between Malaysia and Brunei underpinned by shared deep-rooted Islamic values and Malay culture as well as the Malay Monarchy system.
