On 31 March 2026, the High Commissioner of Malaysia HE Datuk Mohd Aini Atan received a courtesy call from a delegation of Kelantan Syariah Judiciary Department, led by its Syariah Chief Judge YAA Dato’ Haji Ibrahim Deris at Rumah Malaysia.
During the courtesy call, HE Datuk Mohd Aini was briefed about the established collaboration between Kelantan Syariah Judiciary and Brunei Syariah Judiciary which include knowledge-sharing initiatives and institutional linkages that have contributed to strengthening the administration of Syariah law in both jurisdictions. Both sides also discussed the Syariah Judiciary ecosystem in Brunei and how best it operates in tandem with the Civil Law system in the Sultanate.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini welcomed the continued and expanding cooperation in the areas of Syariah Judiciary in both countries and further underscored that a strong judicial cooperation framework is imperative in upholding justice and reinforcing the rule of law, which would translate to a consolidated regional peace and stability.
Following the courtesy call, HE Datuk Mohd Aini hosted the Kelantan Syariah Chief Judge together with 26 accompanying delegations from Kelantan Syariah Judiciary Department to a dinner at Rumah Malaysia.
The dinner was also graced by YAM Tengku Maharani Putri Tengku Amalin A’ishah Putri and family members.
