On 2 September 2025, the High Commissioner of Malaysia HE Datuk Mohd Aini Atan paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei, YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin at the latter’s office.
During the call, HE Datuk Mohd Aini and YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Manaf had a frank exchange of thoughts and views on wide-ranging subjects, including agriculture and food security; biodiversity and marine conservation; and tourism.
With respect to agriculture, HE Datuk Mohd Aini underscored Malaysia’s commitment to deepen economic linkages with Brunei through joint efforts on commercial paddy cultivation and livestock integration. On tourism, HE Datuk Mohd Aini sought the continued support from Brunei for joint tourism promotional activities as Malaysia gears up for its upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini also reaffirmed the commitment of the High Commission of Malaysia to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism in promoting cooperation in the facets of agriculture, biodiversity and tourism between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
