On 9 October 2023, the High Commissioner of Malaysia, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah hosted a dinner for the Director General of Education, Malaysia, Dato' Haji Pkharuddin Haji Ghazali at Tarindak D’Seni in honour of the latter’s working visit to Brunei Darussalam to attend Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan’s (KUPU SB) 13th convocation ceremony which was held on 10 October 2023.
The dinner was also attended by vice chancellors and representatives of Malaysian higher education institutions (HEI) who were invited to attend KUPU SB’s convocation ceremony. Among the HEIs include, Universiti Malaya (UM); Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS); Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI); Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA); Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL); Al-Madinah International University; and Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG).
During the dinner, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza reiterated the High Commission’s support and commitment in enhancing education ties between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, as well as in promoting Malaysia as the preferred destination for Bruneian to pursue tertiary education. In conjunction with the convocation, KUPU SB also signed several MoUs on education cooperation with Malaysian HEIs.
