On 17 May 2024, His Excellency Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah Malaysian High Commissioner made a farewell call on Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi Haji Mohd Yussof the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II at the Ministry of Defence.
Reflecting the defence cooperation between both countries in the last three years, both sides expressed satisfaction on the strong bilateral defence ties which saw active exchange of military training, joint military exercises and continued joint participation of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The Minister commended the Malaysian High Commissioner’s continuous proactive role and tireless effort throughout his tenure in Brunei in consolidating defence cooperation towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The farewell call was the final engagement in a series of farewell calls undertaken by His Excellency Raja Dato’ Reza on every Bruneian cabinet minister prior to ending his tour of duty in Brunei Darussalam on 18 May 2024.
