The High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan, in collaboration with the Rizqun International Hotel and Tourism Malaysia, organised the Malaysian Food Festival 2025 from 15 to 19 October 2025 at the Rizqun International Hotel.
The opening ceremony of the festival was held on 15 October 2025, and was attended by a number of dignitaries, including members of the Legislative Council, heads of diplomatic mission, senior government officials, and corporate leaders. Guests were treated to an exquisite array of authentic Malaysian cuisines prepared by specially invited chefs from Community College Beaufort, Sabah, featuring signature dishes such as Penang Laksa, Mee Jawa, Penang Char Kway Teow, Murtabak Malaysia, and Kuih Gelembung Buaya.
A live cooking demonstration was also held during the opening day, showcasing the preparation of Murtabak Malaysia and Penang Char Kway Teow, led by Chef Mohd Yusof, Chef Shamsuddin and Chef Mohd Fikri.
The Malaysian Food Festival aims to enhance the appreciation for Malaysian cuisine among the local community in Brunei. It also forms part of the High Commission’s cultural diplomacy initiatives, which is one of the key focus areas under Malaysia’s Foreign Policy Framework.
HE Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, High Commissioner of Malaysia expressed hope that the festival will not only highlight Malaysia’s rich and diverse gastronomic heritage, but also foster cultural diversity among the multi-ethnic communities in both Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
