The High Commission of Malaysia organised the inaugural Malaysian Laksa Festival from 3 until 5 November 2023 at the Rizqun International Hotel. The festival held in collaboration with the Rizqun Hotel and supported by Tourism Malaysia featured five authentic Laksa from Sarawak, Kedah, Penang, Johor and Kelantan, personally prepared by five Malaysia’s very own chefs.

The opening of the festival on 3 November was attended by many dignitaries including YABhg. Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Hajah Norlidah binti Tan Sri Datuk R.M. Jasni, spouse of the Governor of Sabah, Bruneian Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, spouses of Ministers, Legislative Council members and Heads of Mission. The festival is aimed to promote and enhance the profile of Malaysian Laksa to the communities in Brunei. It is also a part of the High Commission’s cultural diplomacy efforts under the overarching Malaysia’s Foreign Policy Framework.

The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah expressed hope that the festival could be the stepping stone in the promotion of Malaysian gastronomy not only in Brunei, but also to the rest of the world.
