MALAYSIAN OFFICIALS ON EXCHANGE VISIT
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday, August 16 - THE Malaysian delegation for the 10th Brunei-Malaysian Exchange Visit Programme for Senior Civil Service Officials arrived in the country yesterday.
On hand to welcome the delegation was the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat.
The delegationheaded by Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, Chief Secretary of State, consists of 13 other chief secretaries of various ministries and their spouses. They will be in theSultanate for three days during which time they will be attending a colloquium and bilateral meetings as well as holding a friendly golf tournament.
The spouses of the Malaysian senior officials will have their own separate itinerary which includecourtesy calls to their Bruneian counterparts to discuss issues of mutual concern and interest.
Yesterday, the women kicked start their programme by visiting the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Bengkurong.
The group comprise of more than 12 women was. led by Puan Sri Wan Noorlina Wan Hussein, wife of Tan Sri Mohd Sidek.
The visitors were greeted upon arrival at the centre by the Executive Trustee for Pusat Ehsan, Pg Datin Hjh Noraini Pg Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pg Hj Momin.
As an introduction to the centre, the women were briefed on the history and structural organisation of Pusat Ehsan by Hj Ahmad Hj Abdul Rahman, the centre's Policy and Planning Trustee.
The visitors were then taken for a tour of the centre.
The Malaysian delegation also donatedRM3,000 to the centre, which was presented by Puan Sri Wan Noorlina.
Today, the Malaysian officers' spouses will be visiting the Balai Pameran Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah at the State Mufti Department.
The working visit is aimed at enhancing relations and understanding which has long been established between Brunei and Malaysia.
Currently, there are more than 100 children and adults with special needs attending the various life skill courses. (AIS1)
