MALAYSIANS IN BRUNEI CALLED TO REGISTER
Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari yesterday called on all Malaysians in the Sultanate to register themselves with the High Commission and Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM).
This is to ensure that all Malaysians here are taken care of by Malaysian authorities especially at the High Commission.
The High commission said it is going to create and improve its website, so that all Malaysians can come and register on-line.
The High Commissioner, who is also the patron of PWM said, also hopes to see Malaysians come in big numbers to the Lunar New Year celebrations dinner on March 1.
The tradition in Brunei, where all races celebrate together Hari Raya and Chinese New Year, is also practised in Malaysia.
He said he is proud to see that Malaysians also contribute toward the social welfare of the people in Brunei and urged them to continue the good work.
The Chinese New Year celebration?s highlight will be the presentation of Academic Excellence Award 2007 to 327 students who are studying in Brunei. They are the children of PMW members, who have attained excellent academic results.
Students from Primary 1 to Upper six will be awarded with certificates and ?Ang Pow? at the ceremony.
In the past four years, 1295 students have been awarded by the association.
PWM will also actively take part in the 24th National day celebration parade in the capital.
