Malaysians Urged To Uphold Nation's Name

Bandar Seri Begawan - Malaysians residing in the country are urged to work hard professionally in order to uphold the name of their nation.
This was said by Malaysian High Commissioner in Brunei Datuk Ali bin Abdullah during a flag hoisting ceremony at the Malaysian High Commission yesterday to mark the 49th' Malaysian national day.
"I'm proud to see that all of you can foster friendships with your countrymen as well as those from the host nation of Brunei Darussalam. I hope such cooperation would continue."
The High Commissioner also said Malaysians of various races and religions live in constant harmony, which should be preserved whether they are in Malaysia or abroad.
Datuk Ali noted that since achieving independence 49 years ago, Malaysia has progressed rapidly, adding that Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi recently launched the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
He also said that various activities will be held to mark the Malaysian Independence Day, including a "Malam Gemilang 49" concert on September 16 at Manggis Mall, organised by Persatuan Kebajikan Melayu SeMalaysia and the Malaysian community in Brunei.
