His Excellency Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah on 9 December 2021 had a meeting with Tuan Haji Mohammed Fadzillah bin Haji Ismail, Director of Brunei Darussalam Prison Department at the latter’s office. Also present during the meeting were senior officials of the Department and officials from the High Commission of Malaysia.
During the discussion, both parties exchanged views and updates on the latest developments, including the initiatives taken to ensure the welfare and safety of detainees due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Director of Brunei Prison Department expressed satisfaction with the existing cooperation and welcomed new potential collaboration, including the possibility of establishing a Treaty on the International Transfer of Prisoner (ITOP) with the Malaysian side. As the new Director, Tuan Haji Mohammed Fadzillah also assured his commitment to maintain close working relations between the Brunei Prison Department and the High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan particularly on consular related matters.
