MALAYSIA is celebrating its 56th National Day, which is an anniversary of our independence on Saturday, August 31, 2013, of which a flag raising ceremony will be held at the High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan in the morning of August 31, followed by a diplomatic reception on the following night.
The theme for this year celebration is "Malaysiaku Berdaulat: Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku" (My Sovereign Malaysia: My Native Land), which is the reflection of the Malaysian Government's spirit in defending the sovereignty, national security, peace and unity of our homeland since our independence and the formation of Malaysia. It was the spirit of togetherness, solidarity and patriotism among Malaysians which kept us close, prosperous and united.
Indeed, the foundation of such spirit is our undivided loyalty to Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzarn Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah as well as the Government of Malaysia.
On this special occasion, on behalf of the Malaysian High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan, and Malaysians in Brunei Darussalam, may I take this opportunity to express my endless gratitude and appreciation particularly to Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam as well as the Government of Brunei and the officials of His Majesty's Government for their continuous support.
As the Acting High Commissioner of Malaysian Mission during these busy months of ASEAN chairmanship here, I also wish to take this very opportunity to personally thank the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Negara Brunei Darussalam as well as other Ministries for being supportive and accommodative in responding to our requests, which undoubtedly had contributed immeasurably towards enhancing the special relations.
The bilateral relations between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam is indeed a special relations, manifested by long historical ties and traditions shared between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, including the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers. Such close relation is evidenced by the continuous and endless flow of the high level visits between Malaysia and Brunei.
May I take this opportunity to wish Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam and Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam and all members of the Royal Family, and the people of Brunei Darussalam, a continuous wellness and prosperity.
