IT was a joyous occasion as the Malaysian Citizens Association (PWM) in Brunei held a Christmas and New Year's dinner at the Darussalam Hall, Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan for its members and fellow Malaysians living in the Sultanate.

Present at the celebration was Acting Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Agus Salim Yusof the guest of honour.

Also present was the President of PWM Simon D Gelan and the Executive Committee members of the association.

In his welcoming speech, the President stated that the occasion is not just a dinner but a night to celebrate and uphold the Malaysian muhibbah spirit. He added that it was also a time to reflect upon the past year and take the opportunity to learn from the past experiences as well as to share good tidings for the New Year 2011.

Meanwhile, the Acting High Commissioner in his speech congratulated the association for organising the event.

"After looking back at the past year, there is still room for a lot of growth and improvements in this coming year," he said.

The Acting High Commissioner then ended his speech by urging fellow Malaysians in Brunei Darussalam to always believe in collective teamwork and harmony as with these simple philosophies, the future can only be brighter and better.
