On 24 March 2022, H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah attended the virtual signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the BIMB-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) Brunei Darussalam and the respective Business Councils of Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan) and the Republic of Philippines (Palawan, Zamboanga and BRMM). Present also were Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Brunei, H.E. Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines to Brunei Darussalam and Honourable Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia, Special Envoy BIMP-EAGA Sabah.
The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in advancing the strategic pillars of BIMP-EAGA, particularly in meeting the goals of BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025. BEBC will, in particular, exploit and maximize the potential of each member in improving the Food Basket and Food Security Pillar, Investment-specific Connectivity Pillar namely ICT (Digital Transformation) connecting rural areas, and Tourism Pillar. The Leaders of the 14th BIMP-EAGA Leaders Summit in October 2021 had called on the private sector to lead the post-pandemic recovery in trade, tourism and investment.
