Sultan of Brunei?s visit to Sabah
4 Feb - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha undertook two-day official visit to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from 3 ? 4 February 2009.
His Majesty and entourage were greeted upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport by the Yang Di-Pertua of Negeri Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmadshah Abdullah and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima Hjh Dayang Masuyah Japar.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman and wife Datin Seri Panglima Hjh Faridah Hj Tussin, other senior officials of Sabah State Government as well as High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, H.E Dato? Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari and wife.
Soon after the arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty accompanied by Yang Di-Pertua of Negeri Sabah and his wife proceeded for the Royal Dias to receive the Royal Salute. Twenty-one gun salute was fired while the national anthems of both countries were played. His Majesty later inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by 105 officers and men of the seventh battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
Their Majesties' itinerary started with a luncheon hosted by Sabah Chief Minister and wife at a leading resort in Kota Kinabalu. In the afternoon, His Majesty accompanied by Sabah Chief Minister attended a briefing on the tourism industry and the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) at Wisma Tun Mustapha.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty in a separate programme attended a gathering hosted by organisation of the Wives and Staff of the Malaysian Civil Service (Puspanita), the Welfare Body of Wives of Elected Representatives (Bakisa) and other female senior officials. Her Majesty was accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Panglima Hjh Dayang Masuyah Japar.
In the evening, Their Majesties attended a State Banquet in honour of Their Majesties' visit to Sabah hosted by Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah and wife.
On the second day, His Majesty the Sultan visited the Teluk Sepanggar Royal Malaysian Navy Base. His Majesty boarded a special bus to have a closer look around the Naval Base followed by a visit to the Naval Air Station. During the drive, His Majesty was briefed on the submarine project by the First Admiral at the Naval Air Station. His Majesty was able to view the developments of the submarine facility.
Sultan later visited the KD KEDAH ship and upon arrival was greeted by the commanding officer of the ship, Commander (Lt Col) Muhammad Ruzelme bin Ahmad Fahmy. His Majesty signed a guest book and was presented with a souvenir by First Admiral Syed Zahiruddin Putra.
