| BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN ,April 17, 2018 - TOURISM Malaysia launched its Malaysia National Sales Campaign 2018 holiday packages complementing the upcoming Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival and Malaysia Year End Sale (MYES).
The tourism office collaborated with five prominent local travel agents in promoting Malaysia as the go-to holiday destination namely, Anthony Tours and Travel Agency Sdn Bhd, Century Travel Centre Sdn Bhd, Freme Travel Services Sdn Bhd, Pan Bright Travel Service and At-taqwa Travel Tour Sdn Bhd.
The Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival will be held from May 15 until July 31 while the MYES is slated to start from November 1 until December 31.
In his opening remarks, Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei (TM Brunei) Hj Ibrahim Seddiqi Talib addressed that Bruneian market plays an important role in the Malaysian tourism industry for being the fifth largest contributor to the arrival of foreign tourists to Malaysia in 2017. “Based on the statistics for the past three years, 1.66 million arrivals from Brunei was recorded for 2017 which is the highest figure in 15 years since TM Brunei’s office inception in 2003. Meanwhile, 1.4 million and 1.13 million arrivals in 2016 and 2015, respectively,” he said.
He added: “In relation to this, I also urge sellers and buyers other than the five selected travel agents to develop attractive travel packages to Malaysia during the Mega Sale Carnival and MYES season.”
Prior to the launch, a Business Matching session between Bruneian and Malaysian tours and holidays sellers and buyers was held at Rizqun International Hotel.
The Malaysian sellers comprised of members from the Malaysia Inbound Tourism Association, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, Tourism Johor, Sarawak Tourism Board and industry players from Labuan, Perak and Johor, among others.
Also present at the launching ceremony were representatives from Tourism Malaysia airlines partners; Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Royal Brunei Airlines and AirAsia. Through the collaboration, the airlines have supported by offering special fares to participating travel agents to develop holiday packages to best fit Bruneian tourists.
