The Governor of Sarawak, HE Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and spouse YABhg. Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi undertook their maiden visit to Brunei from 23 to 25 June 2024 for the royal audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam.
Aside from the audience held at Istana Nurul Iman, the Sarawak Governor had the opportunity to visit the Royal Regalia Museum; Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; and Pusat Sejarah Brunei. The Governor also took part in an engaging dinner at the Malaysian High Commission with over 100 Sarawakian diaspora in the sultanate.
The visit marks the first official visit by HE Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi since taking the oath as the eighth Governor of Sarawak in January this year. It also reflects the close and special ties that Malaysia and Sarawak have with their immediate neighbour, Brunei Darussalam.
