Today marked the first attendance of High Commissioner Dr Shazelina at the 288th of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) Heads of Mission Meeting chaired by the Ambassador of the Philippines. During the Meeting, the Chair and all ACO Heads of Mission extended a warm welcome to Her Excellency Dr Shazelina.
In addition, the Ambassador of the Philippines officially handed over the Chairmanship of the ACO to the Ambassador of Thailand, who will serve as the new ACO Chair for the period from January to June 2025.
Following the meeting, the ACO Heads of Mission had a working lunch with the Vice President, Research & Strategy at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. This session provided an opportunity to discuss the current political landscape in Canada, as well as business and trade cooperation between Canada and the ASEAN Member States.
