MALAYSIA ACCORDED UNITED NATIONS AWARD
KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) won one of the eight awards in conjunction with the United Nations (UN) Day 2013.
Wisma Putra, in a statement, said the "Millennium Development Goal (MDG) Eight: Develop a Global Partnership for Development" award was accorded to an individual or organisation recognised for outstanding contribution to the UN goal.
"Malaysia is proud of this award as it is an international recognition in its contribution towards developing countries to achieve the MDG," it said.
The programme under the MTCP entails diplomacy, public management and administration, science and technology, ICT management, environment, professional service, good governance, health service, education, continuous development, agriculture, investment promotion, poverty eradication and banking.
The Foreign Ministry said Malaysia would continue to share its expertise and experience with 139 developing countries through the MTCP in line with the South-South cooperation objectives.
