Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal ABidin, the King of Malaysia undertook a Special Task Visit to Canada from 18 to 22 September 2010. The visit was held under Malaysia’s brain gain programme, an invitiative to develop technical and scientific expertise among universities through collaborations with Canadian institutions.
Tuanku Mizan was accompanied by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education Tan Sri Dr. Zulkefli Hassan and members of Malaysia’s academia.
The visit, jointly-organised by the Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation (YDSM), Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, is aimed at enhancing the network between researchers and academic staff of Malaysian universities and Canada's McGill University and University of Guelph in Toronto.
