On 3 September 2021, the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland organised a flag-raising ceremony and a National Day reception at Rumah Malaysia to celebrate Malaysia’s 64th National Day. The event took place in accordance with the health protocols set by the Swiss Government.
The event commenced with the hoisting of the Jalur Gemilang flag whilst the national anthem Negaraku being played. It was followed by the recitation of the Rukun Negara declaration and speech by TYT Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal Muhamad, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the UN. In the spirit of this year’s National Day theme which is “Malaysia Prihatin”, TYT Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal in his speech, reminded that caring is a trait that must be embraced and that every Malaysian must have a deep sense of love for the country, which would help to engender unity and togetherness.
As Switzerland eased more of its coronavirus restrictions, the National Day reception was organised amongst the Malaysian community, with participation of ASEAN Permanent Representatives and diplomats.
Guests were served with Malaysia’s quintessential cuisine and desserts such as nasi lemak, satay, laksa, kuih lapis and sago gula melaka.
