On 12 February 2022, the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva organised a gathering at Rumah Malaysia to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The event took place in accordance with the health protocols set by the Swiss Government.
The year 2022 is the ‘Year of the Tiger’, which according to Chinese belief, symbolises agility, confidence and wisdom among others, signifying strength to face challenges in the future. The event begun with a ‘Yee Sang’ prosperity toss, followed by a scrumptious dinner in classic Chinese steamboats and ended with a fun trivia quiz on the Year of the Tiger. The Chinese New Year gathering befits the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia, in forging the values of family that bind Malaysians together.
