Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile
Ambassador Abu Bakar Mamat served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at Wisma Putra since 2000. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile, Ambassador Abu Bakar was the Undersecretary of CLMV & Oceania Division.
Ambassador Abu Bakar had served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Windhoek, Namibia (2004-2008) and was appointed as the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Pakistan from 2011 until 2015. He had also served in the Protocol Division (2001-2004), Directorate of Asia, Oceania & North Africa (2007-2008), Foreign Minister’s Office (2008-2009), Public Diplomacy & Information Division (2009) and OIC Division (2009-2011).
Ambassador Abu Bakar also served as Deputy Director General of ASEAN External Affairs (2015-2016), Deputy Director General of Communication & Public Diplomacy (2016) and Undersecretary of Development Division (2016-2018).
