Ambassador meets the Man of Steel
H.E Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain, accompanied by his wife and Ms. Anil Adenan, Second Secretary of the Embassy, visited and toured the Huachipato Steel company on 25 June 2008. Ambassador was met by the Man of Steel Ivan Flores, Chief Executive Officer of Huachipato Steel Company.
2. Before the tour, Mr. Ivan Flores gave a briefing on the establishment and functions of the company. Located by the San Vicente bay of Talcahuano, neighbouring city of Concepcion, Huachipato is the only integrated steel company with ISO 9001:2000 certificate in Chile that manufactures products from raw material (iron ore, coal and limestone).
3. The company produces around 1.2 million tonnes of steel annually, providing over 50% of domestic market share. Perwaja produces about 1.2 tonnes of steel annually. Among their main products are tin plates, wire rods, reinforcing bars (bars and coil) and grinding bars. Perwaja Steel in Malaysia is one of their important clients.
4. After the briefing, the delegation was given a tour of the factory to observe the manufacturing process from beginning to the end product.
5. Ivan Flores also hosted lunch for the delegation after the tour.
