Hearing it from the experts
IN an effort to equip students with essential skills before they join the workforce, Stamford College recently held two Occasional Speaker Series (OSS) series to broaden the studentsÂ? exposure and horizons.
The OSS is an effort by the Stamford-Lansbridge MBA student body and administration to bring distinguished academics and high-profile business, government and community leaders to address MBA students and staff on a variety of topics.
The series seeks to enhance students' experience beyond the classroom and to expose them to ideas will encounter as future business and community leaders.
The two distinguished guests were Chile's ambassador to Malaysia Patricio Torres and Tan Sri Datuk Clifford Herbert.
The audience had an informative session at the talks.
In his address to the audience, Torres emphasised the importance of education, particularly the role of the English language in todayÂ?s global economy.
Herbert talked about Growth, Development and Challenges in the Malaysian Economy, highlighting the challenges the country faces in the global economy.
The OSS brings an umbrella of benefits, not only to MBA students but also to undergraduates, as it offers students the opportunity to move beyond the boundaries of the classroom into the real world.
It also aims to build on knowledge transfer, teaching students how to leverage knowledge into the work environment.
Apart from adding value to studentsÂ? education, the talks also help students to polish their networking skills as they engage in dialogue with prominent industry personalities and expert speakers.
