Malaysian Open Data Portal data.gov.my.
It is a one-service-centre to access and download Government open datasets online.
In 2015, Open Data was identified by the Government as able to add to the people’s well-being and can be utilised from the aspects of economy, environment, and societal values. Hence, the implementation of the Open Data initiative is in line with the Government’s direction under Chapter 9 of the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11MP), which is Transforming Public Service for Productivity. It aims to contribute towards achieving the nation’s aspirations through the utilisation of data to increase outcomes and reduce costs, under the focus area of Enhancing Service Delivery with Citizens at the Centre.
The Open Data Initiative was also identified as being capable of conferring economic benefits on the Government. It can contribute towards improving the efficiency and productivity of Government services delivery towards achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030, namely SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
